Not everyone works shifts. A work pattern is a person's standing hours at one location, and it is what their clock-ins and timesheets are compared against on days with no shift. A published shift on a day replaces that day's pattern.
Set a pattern
Open Shifts & hours and choose the Patterns tab, then New pattern. The form opens as a page of its own.
Choose the Person and the Location.
For each day they work, set the start, the end and the unpaid break.
Choose whether it Repeats Every week or Every two weeks. A two-week cycle suits alternate Saturdays.
Set the date it starts, and an end date if it has one.
Leave They clock in and out ticked if they do. Untick it and the pattern's hours count as worked unless the day is excused, with no late or missed notices.
Save it.
A person has one pattern on any date. To change their hours from a date, end the old pattern the day before and start a new one. A change that reaches a day an approved timesheet already counted is refused. Reopen that timesheet first, or start the change after it.
Apply a pattern to many people
Choose Apply to… on a pattern, pick a department, team, audience group or location, and the date it starts. Each person gets their own copy. Anyone who already has a pattern on that date is left as they are.
Holidays
The Holidays tab is your workspace's list: a date and a name, for every location or one. Add each holiday you observe; there is no preset to keep up to date.
On a holiday, pattern days don't count as planned time, the roster marks the day, and timesheets count the minutes worked on it as holiday minutes. A night shift that runs into a holiday counts only its hours after midnight. Everyone sees holidays in the Holidays calendar layer.
